Overview
Former policewoman, Karen Bryant, creates a new life for herself after a career-ending injury. Instead of finding a way to help criminally-troubled families in her Cleveland neighborhood, she finds a way to prevent criminal activity with a program aimed at the youth. Unfortunately, her one obstacle appeared to be a very sexy, Officer Caro Spencer.
Caro Spencer is a cop with a chip on his shoulder. He's been tasked to work with Karen, following his convalescent leave and he's not happy about his reassignment. A misunderstanding separates them, but once they figure out that they've both been immature and stubborn, they find that anger was just a cover up for a sizzling desire for each other.
Manuto Cassevettes has made the Honor Roll on his 'mobster' report card, racking up A's in all subject areas except for one, Karen Bryant. He's managed to disrupt her police career, but she's still making trouble and getting in the way of his daily operations. Manuto decides that he needs to get rid of her once and for all, even if it means ensuring her death.
Karen and Caro fight crime during the day and fight their passion for each other at night, until unstoppable desire pushes them over the edge. The road to Nirvana is complicated by a few distractions, including a mobster and a beautiful diamond thief. Karen and Caro fall headlong into each other's arms and into a 'Perilous Passion' that will have them fighting for their lives and their love.

This is only the second novel I've read by the late Mrs. Katherine D. Jones and I found it to be a sensual, exciting and suspenseful read. Karen Bryant and Caro Spencer are genuinely likable and memorable characters, whom readers will adore. Karen and Caro are both hardworking and dedicated police officers. But due to unfortunate circumstances they both receive major injuries while on duty and are forced to make major changes in their careers. Karen Bryant retires from the police force re-establishing herself as the director of a community-based youth program focusing on keeping teens from falling into a life crime. Caro Spencer is unwillingly assigned as the police liaison to Karen's youth program. And as much as he doesn't mind giving back to the community he's not as eager to give up his career of working in the burglary unit. So he secretly continues to work on his open case in the hopes of solving it and getting reassigned back to his unit. Mrs. Jones also touches on some social issues, but due to the short length of this story the issues aren't given much of an in-depth focus.~~~~~~~Although Karen and Caro have quite a bit in common, and despite the instant mutual attraction towards each other, at there first meeting they get off on the "wrong foot". However, their dislike for each other is quickly remedied by Karen's brother, Lt. Arnold Dryer, and once he sets them back on the "right foot" the desire between the couple is RED HOT. Karen is a beautiful, intelligent, brave, and also an EXTREMELY stubborn woman, who has been hurt before and is afraid to put her heart on the line again. However, she's finding it very hard to resist Caro, who she seems eager to help in EVERY aspect of his life, personally and professionally. Caro is a sexy, strong, very protective man and he's also quite "freaky" in the lovin' department. But how can he stay focused on solving his case in order to get his career back on track, when Karen is becoming a very TEMPTING and SATISFYING distraction?!! Even though the passion jumps of the pages between Karen and Caro will they EVER get past the stubbornness and the trust issues to build a lasting relationship?!!~~~~~~~This story is designed to be an erotically charged quick and SPICY read. And even though I found the storyline to be quite enticing, I couldn't give it more than a 3.5 rating, due to the MANY typos throughout this VERY short novel (only 143 pages)!
